Makrolon® Rx polycarbonate forms the housing of a small mechanical injection pump that can fit in a shirt pocket, allowing patients to administer their own medications with high dosing accuracy in the comfort of their own home.
Makrolon® Rx resin’s high impact resistance, durability and transparency made it ideal for the unit’s housing components. Makrolon® Rx satisfies major biocompatibility requirements (following ISO 10993-1 and USP Class VI), can be sterilized through high-energy radiation and resists a broad spectrum of pharmaceuticals – all properties important for the medical device industry. Another significant benefit is that the polycarbonate’s transparency lets patients immediately check the filling level of the medicine.
