Created to work inside the car and out, the Roadtrip is an innovative car charger with a built-in portable battery for on-the-go use.

When designing for the modern nomad, materials must be sleek, tough and lightweight. To meet these essential requirements, Nomad chose Makrolon® 2207 polycarbonate from Covestro for the device’s protective outer shell.

Makrolon® 2207 polycarbonate is a high-flow thermoplastic material suitable for thin-wall molding. This polycarbonate grade has easy-release properties and is an excellent choice for applications that need a durable, heat-stable material.

Roadtrip charges a mobile device via the car’s standard 12V power outlet and features a 3,000mAh backup battery inside that provides power on the go. Roadtrip uses pass-through charging, in which the plugged-in device is charged first, followed by the internal battery. It has two charging ports, a standard USB Type-A port and a USB Type-C port for charging the latest gadgets.

Makrolon® 2207 polycarbonate is utilized in other Nomad products  including the NomadClip, NomadKey and NomadPlus.
