Color and special effects with compounded color technology
LEDA® compounded color technology is an economical technology for adding color and special effects to applications with large volumes and infrequent color changes. Manufacturers use it to enhance the look of their products and help customers see their products in a new light.
LEDA® compounded color technology offers numerous types of colors and special effects, including:
- Luna™ – glow-in-the-dark effects
- Mirage™ – color travel/pearlescent effects
- Mina™ – metallic effects
- Azar™ – fluorescent effects
- Rx™ – medical colors
- Just Cool™ – colors
In the LEDA® compounded color technology process, resins are compounded with colorants and special effect additives to yield pre-colored plastic pellets that are ready to mold. Some additives are compliant with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other regulations for use in food-contact and medical applications.
To achieve the look you want, choose colors from Covestro’s existing color library or its selection of trendy special effects, or create your own.
Covestro’s Color & Design Center can match exact color requirements and provide a globally transferrable color match making LEDA® compounded color technology a practical and exciting option for your products.
Our Color & Design Center staff can design colors with improved UV stability or even with specific infra-red wavelength absorption.
Combining LEDA® compounded color technology with the Design Center’s expertise allows you to pull off the most radiant, innovative colors or special effects, transforming a plain product into a design that dazzles.
